Study into Omega 3

Omega 3Lee Hooper from University of East Anglia has apparently shown that Omega 3 does not help in preservation of health or in preventing cardiovascular illness. This is all over the news today Western Mail.

This does kinda fly in the face of the evidence, so I wrote to her to ask the following:

“Hi Lee Interesting study into omega 3. Have you taken archaeological evidence into account? On episode of Time Team, Mick Aston pointed to excavated bones from 12 century monastery site and said that you can clearly see the evidence of eating fish every Friday on excavated bones of monks, as opposed to bones of peasants excavated over the fence in the ordinary peoples cemetery. The monk’s bones were in much better condition and showed much less evidence of disease. Salmon was reserved for the monks and the aristocracy and not allowed to peasants. Sue”

PS: Literally two minutes later my email informed me that my post could not be delivered, even though the contact email address is clearly shown on the BMJ page (see her link above!) Oh well!
