The Dragon’s Eye
From my forthcoming book, Consensus: The Red Book…
“The Consensus protects Life Allowed within a Palate, an educational device linked into local systems under legislation called The Dragon’s Eye. Under the Perfect, rights and responsibilities balanced completely.
“You can believe what you like within the law,†Riseld boomed. “It is not permissible to violate Consensual Law, no matter what you think. It is not permitted to force others to believe what you believe, nor should anyone force you likewise. In the Dragon’s Eye all beliefs, traditions, cultural practice etcetera are to be respected and valued and they will be taught! No political tight rope needs to be walked. All of the diversity of Existence is reflected in the Dragon’s Eye!â€
Riseld walked around smacking his axe on the table and the floor for emphasis. “When Homeworlds pass the first free vote, we always follow this up with a second vote to rule out pressure from elites and cults, and then a third vote is taken with extraterrestrial Observers. Only when we are all completely satisfied will we confirm your membership. By the time Homeworlds reach the third vote, suspicious objection is at least fully informed. But then so are the elites, the cults and everyone else!
“The Perfect teaches honour, freedom and education without limit. The balance is responsibility. Extraterrestrial laws can’t be universal throughout billions of civilisations and Systems. Local laws within Systems can approximate to some extent, but concordance is never possible. The Perfect Law of The Dragon’s Eye is a code of ethics evolved over millennia to cover some common responsibilities to enable commerce, trade routes and sentient interactions to operate effectively. In space, Consensual Law rules supreme.
“Homeworlds retain their indigenous laws, which do however alter dramatically just because you all know we are out there now! This simply alters all equations. When Teachers do come in to teach in your schools, they will find themselves saving indigenous histories. Under The Dragon’s Eye, even previously forbidden ideologies are protected. Elites and suspicious objection often find themselves protected within The Dragon’s Eye when due process would have swept them away. No! It isn’t easy to see the subtlety of the Perfect on first glance. It isn’t easy to grasp on mature reflection!â€
!!!!!Remember the history of England!!!!
Grubb Street - became Fleet Street was major area with coffee shops along its whole length. The Spectator was born here 1690-1760?
Volatire and many others escaped to London - the whole of Europe was fascinated with the freedom of speech in England and Anglomania swept the World. England was the only place in the World at the time where freedom existed!
Newton (weirdo) and John Locke and David Hume (Edinburgh) - odd ball religioso and aethiests lost belief in ‘religion’ and invented ’science’ an ‘orderly machine’ to replace god (church horrified). Benjamin Franklin was a convert and took the ideas to the USA = Declaration of Independance.
NB: These people were still bigotted males representing elites who approved of slavery, sexism etc.
1789 French revolution frightened everyone = backlash and riots against freethinkers in support of king and state = end of enlightenment - Lunar Society attacked in Birmingham, Darwin’s ?grandad ?great grandad discredited = no seditious meetings in coffee houses allowed = limits on number of people who could get together - meeting limited etc = it was all over by 19th century - but Darwin got through and others must have also got through….
????????????WHO WILL GET THROUGH THIS TIME AROUND?????????
