Ancestral Healing 3 addendum

ancestral healingFollowing on from my blog Ancestral Healing 3 dated 7.4.2006, I now have a breakdown of my ancestral DNA from Family Tree DNA.

It appears that, as the Genographic Project have already identified, my ancestors came out of Africa about 60,000 BCE and went directly up to the Black Sea area, and then across Europe to Britain following the edge of the melting ice sheets.

These latest DNA breakdowns seem to indicate that my ancestors have been in Britain for the last 12,000 years, and prior to that, they wandered through Northern Europe from the Black Sea and finally entered the British Isles, probably across the North Sea before it became flooded, and they have been here ever since!

Good People have always existed

surgeonHenry V’s personal surgeon in 1410 AD was Thomas Morstede. He came from Betchworth near Dorking in Surrey. In 1423 AD he founded The English College of Medicine whose aims were to introduce better medical education and supervision for the medical profession, including the setting of common examinations, inspecting premises stocking medicines, regulating fees and providing FREE MEDICAL CARE TO THE POOR. All of this was to be regulated by the annual election of a rector. In 1435 AD he founded the Mystery or Guild of Surgeons, a professional body which still exists today.

Who is Father Christmas Anyway?

green manWe all know that Christianity hijacked the most revered and favourite figures and festivals from our ancestors when they ‘took over’. This is because they could not extinguish the people’s love of the Old Ways.

The Green Man is a universal symbol from our ancient past and as such he links us to peoples all along the Silk Road and to times so distant, there were no countries, races, religions or cultures.

As such, this nature spirit goes beyond divisions and links us all together, especially at this time of year when he traditionally comes in the dark deep of the year to remind us that spring is just around the corner and to keep our spirits high. He comes again at Beltane (spring) and transforms into Lugh (light) at the summer solstice, to reappear at the Samhain autumn festivities of harvest and Halloween, festivities which predate bonfire night by millenia and link to the root with Diwali to show our common heritage around the world.

The Green Man symbolises so many different aspects of our relationship to nature, I wonder if it is time for us to acknowledge this old friend? What better icon could we have for our new Green Age?
