Adolph Heinrich Gerstel 1805 – 1890

Adolph Heinrich Gerstel 1805 – 1890 MD was a Czech orthodox physician who converted to homeopathy, Physician at the Hospital Guns, member of the Vienna Society of Homeopathic Physicians, and was elected an honorary member of the Institute at Philadelphia in 1876,

Gerstel was a student of Samuel Hahnemann, and one of his provers,

Francis I of Austria 1768 – 1835

Francis II (Emperor Franz I) 1768 – 1835 was the last Holy Roman Emperor, ruling from 1792 until 6 August 1806, when he dissolved the Empire after the disastrous defeat of the Third Coalition by Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Austerlitz. In 1804 he had founded the Austrian Empire and became Francis I of Austria (Franz I), the first Emperor of Austria, ruling from 1804 to 1835, so later he was named the one and only Doppelkaiser (double Emperor) in history.

Despite the fact that in the year 1810, the practice of Homeopathy was forbidden throughout the Austrian Empire at the suggestion of Stifft the physician to the emperor, Franz I showed an eager interest in homeopathy, and he sent his physicians in ordinary to visit Samuel Hahnemann to learn about homeopathy. Klemens Wenzel Prince von Metternich 1773 – 1859

Klemens Wenzel Prince von Metternich 1773 – 1859 was a German Austrian politician and statesman and was one of the most important diplomats of his era.

Metternich’s wife was a patient of Matthias Marenzeller,

In fact, homeopathic medicine was prohibited under Metternich in 1819 due to the old medical legislation which threatened penalties to doctors who produced their own remedies, though Metternich and his family became strong advocates of homeopathy.

Metternich had good reason to be grateful to homeopathy for the life of his General Johann Josef Wenzel Graf Radetzky von Radetz, and in 1870 a second hospital for homeopathy opened its gates in Pest. Its benefactress was Countess Zichy (nee von Metternich).

Metternich also consulted his allopathic physician Friedrich Jaeger von Jaxtthal, who was open minded enough to discuss Metternich with his homeopathic colleague, Charles Neidhard (the same Friedrich Jaeger von Jaxtthal who advised Johann Josef Wenzel Graf Radetzky von Radetz to consult homeopath Christophe Hartung).

Count Eduard Clam Gallas 1805 – 1891 was an Austrian General, Austrian Cavalry of Bohemia,

Clam Gallas was cured of cholera by spirits of camphor by Count Laransky in 1831, as Samuel Hahnemann recommended.

Eduard’s mother Josephine Clary 1777 – 1828, virtuoso violin, was a friend of Ludwig von Beethoven, who composed music for her.

Eduard’s father Christian Christoph Graf Clam Gallas and his brother Phillip Christian Graf Clam Gallas (1748-1805), founded the spa bath Libverda in Jizera as a summer residence of the family Clam Gallas.

Tobias Haslinger 1787 – 1842 was an Austrian music publisher and composer.

In 1823, Ludwig von Beethoven’s music publisher Tobias Haslinger recommended homeopathy to Ludwig von Beethoven.

Haslinger was the publisher of Ludwig von Beethoven, Ignaz Moscheles, Louis Spohr, Karl Maria von Weber, and many others.
