Casanova arrived in England already a qualified homeopath (?qualified in America), and was given a warm welcome in the UK,

Casanova was a colleague of  John James Drysdale, Harvey, Adrian Stokes,

Casanova practiced in Brighton, and Guernsey, although he retired from practice to write.

Karl Jakob Adam 1797? – 1865? MD was a German orthodox physician who converted to homeopathy, and who introduced homeopathy into Russia.

Adam was a student of Samuel Hahnemann, and a member of Samuel Hahnemann’s Provers Union which consisted of Carl Gottlob Caspari, Carl Franz, Gustav Wilhelm Gross, Frantz Hartmann, Carl Gottlob Helbig, Christian Theodore Herrmann, Christian Gottlob Hornburg, Ernst Kummer, Christian Freidrich Langhammer, Viet Meyer, Ernst Ferdinand Rueckert, Friedrich Jakob Rummel, John Ernst Stapf, Teuthorn, Oscar D Tietze,

In 1824, Dr. Adam, who had become acquainted one year before to Samuel Hahnemann, arrived in Russia from Germany. [...]. He introduced to homeopathy Dr. Scherring, who later became the Chief physician of the Special Guardian Board… Adam did practice homeopathy but also called it “specific treatment” and, most probably, was never involved in the open struggle with allopaths. The next and the last time we hear about him is when Carl Bojanus mentions that he took part in the activity of the Commission created by the State Council in 1833…

Jose Nunez Pernia 1805 – 1879 (known as Jose Nunez and Marquis of Nunez) MD was a Spanish orthodox physician who converted to homeopathy and received an Honorary Doctorate in 1867 from the Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania, to become one of the first Spanish homeopaths, was the founder of the Hahnemann Society of Madrid, of the Homeopathic Institute and the San Jose Hospital, Honor President of Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica Internationalis.

Jose Nunez was a student of Samuel Hahnemann, and the homeopathic physician of Queen Isabella II 1830 – 1904, who rewarded Nunez with the title Marquis of Nunez, the Grand Cross of Charles III and the Civil Order of Beneficia. Continue Reading »

Juan Bertran 1885? – 1936? was a Spanish orthodox physician who converted to homeopathy, to become the Spanish Delegate at The International Homeopathic League.

The International Homeopathic League was founded in Rotterdam (Holland), on the 10th September, 1925 by Roy Upham USA, the first President, George Henry Burford, England, the first Vice President, and Harold Fergie Woods, England, Clarence Granville Hey, England, Edwin Awdas Neatby, England, Victor Ellwood, England, M Fremont Kranz Busch, Germany, Jean Paul Tessier Junior, France, E C Tuinzing, Holland, Augusto Vinyals, Spain, Juan Bertran, Spain, Petrie Nicholas Grouleff, Denmark, A. Moeira Piedras, Brazil and Pierre Schmidt, Switzerland.

E Bertran was an American homeopath in 1898.

J Bertran was a Spanish homeopath in 1918.

Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso 1881 – 1973 was an Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor.

Pablo Picasso took homeopathic remedies regularly.

Picasso’s friend Gertrude Stein was interested in homeopathy and discussed it with great interest, and his friend Henri Matisse consulted homeopath Pierre Vannier, the nephew of homeopath Leon Vannier.

Picasso’s friend Guillaume Apollinaire introduced him to a homeopathic medium, and Picasso also worked for Sergei Diaghilev who was very close to Adrian Cedric Boult, Joseph Maurice Ravel, Igor Stravinsky (a close friend of Picasso) and Sergei Prokofiev (who was also a patient of Leon Vannier). Pauline Viardot García 1821 –  1910 was a nineteenth century Spanish mezzo soprano and composer.

Pauline Viardot Garcia wrote to her friend Julius Rietz, advising him to take the homeopathic remedy Oleum, ‘which was wonderful for everything‘.

Pauline was a friend of Louis Hector Berlioz, Frederic Chopin, Charles Francois Gounod, Adelaide Kemble, Jenny Lind, Giacomo Meyerbeer and Clara Schumann (who was a personal friend of Samuel Hahnemann and his wife Melanie).

Pauline had a life long affair with Ivan Turgenev, who wrote about homeopathy in his novel Fathers and Sons in 1861.

Antoni Gaudi 1852 – 1926 was a Spanish architect who belonged to the Modernist style (Art Nouveau) movement and was famous for his unique and highly individualistic designs.

He followed the Sebastian Kneipp regimen because he suffered from reuhmatism, kept a frugal, vegetarian diet, took homeopathic remedies, had various bathing procedures and walked long distances.
